Sweetwater UHSD Undertakes Multi-Site Improvement Projects

Challenge: Planning large-scale improvements at two Chula Vista high schools, Sweetwater Union High School District needed a knowledgeable source to navigate through regulatory agency approvals.

Project Scope: Dudek’s range of services included environmental studies, analyses, and the preparation of CEQA documentation and a mitigated negative declaration (MND).

Resolution: In support of the construction project, Dudek prepared and processed an MND that addressed the environmental concerns of the proposed improvements at two Chula Vista high schools. In addition, the Dudek team:

Provided the district with an integrated approach for analysis of environmental issues required by regulatory agencies
Developed technical studies that included a noise study and a phase one environmental site assessment
Prepared and distributed all public notices to adjacent property owners, local newspapers and the state clearinghouse
Coordinated the preparation of an environmental oversight agreement between the district and Department of Toxic Substance Control (DTSC)
Prepared a thorough and timely preliminary endangerment assessment (PEA) under the oversight of the DTSC that identified and outlined a scope of analysis and work plan appropriate for the project site
