Helping San Diego Effectively Manage Environmental Programs

Challenge: The City of San Diego needed a solution to cost-effectively manage its biological programs.

Project Scope:
Dudek was hired under an as-needed contract to provide a broad range of environmental services.

Resolution: Since 1993, Dudek has completed several hundred environmental task orders serving in an extension-of-staff capacity. By using Dudek professionals, the city is able to more cost-effectively apply a high-level of resources on an as-needed basis and free up limited city staff for other essential work. Dudek has assisted the city with:
  • Preparing a joint EIR/EIS for the Metropolitan Wastewater Department’s 880 square mile Multiple Species Conservation Program (MSCP)
  • Monitoring a sludge line revegetation project in Point Loma
  • Paleontological monitoring for a South Bay land outfall project
  • Biological construction monitoring for pump station and pipelines, final design for wetlands mitigation and long-term mitigation monitoring for the Sorrento Valley Utilities Improvement Project
  • Preparing a plant communities and sensitive species map for the Naval Air Station Miramar Alternate North City Raw Sludge and Water Pipeline Project
  • Providing biological survey and impact analysis of the Southeast Otay Mesa Candidate Monofill site
  • Performing specialized botanical and wildlife surveys
  • Responding to emergencies on a 24-hour on-call basis to streamline biological analysis and resource agency permitting for sewer spills
