Dudek Becomes First West Coast Firm Certified in New Sewer Pipeline Inspection Standard

Encinitas, Calif. – August 18, 2008 – Dudek today announced that it is the first West Coast-based consulting firm to be certified by the National Association of Sewer Service Companies (NASCCO) to conduct cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) inspections.

Dudek civil engineers and inspectors are now certified to inspect all aspects of CIPP rehabilitation from factory liner preparation to installation and testing. This includes evaluating host pipe defects for suitability of various lining methods as well as techniques to prepare severe host pipe defects for lining and how to repair defects after installation. The course emphasizes quality assurance throughout the rehabilitation process.

“In California, more than four billion gallons of wastewater travel daily through 100,000 miles of sewer pipes to 200 treatment plants,” said Mike Metts, Dudek’s engineering services manager “Eighty percent of these systems consist of buried pipes. It is difficult for wastewater agencies to assess the condition of these out of sight facilities. This new program along with NASSCO PACP and MACP certified staff enhances our capabilities to provide our wastewater clients with a certified resource to inspect, assess, and rehabilitate pipelines.”

NASSCO sets industry standards for the assessment and rehabilitation of underground pipelines and promotes the continued acceptance and growth of trenchless technologies. The organization guides the industry toward best practices in assessment and rehabilitation of underground utilities.
