Two Dudek Project Managers Earn LEED Accreditations

Encinitas, Calif. – June 17, 2008 – Two of Dudek’s professional engineers, Charles Greely, P.E., a civil engineer, and Cornelis Overweg, P.E., INCE, a mechanical engineer/senior acoustical engineer, received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) certifications from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). These LEED certifications complement Dudek’s engineering and environmental consulting services provided to its public agency and private enterprise clients throughout California.

“Our clients want LEED-certified engineering and environmental professionals to collaborate with them on their public and private infrastructure projects,” said Frank Dudek, president of Dudek. “Energy and water conservation, recycling, pollution minimization, and sustainable facilities are major design criteria today along with traditional cost savings, constructability, engineering reliability, and aesthetics. LEED certification further expands our design engineers’ knowledge and ability to meet the challenges of an environment that’s becoming greener.”

Greely has over 10 years experience working with public and private entities on subdivision, commercial development and street improvement projects. In addition to his LEED AP certification, he is a registered professional civil engineer in California, Washington and Arizona. Greely is a member of the American Public Works Association (APWA) and the California Water Environment Association (CWEA).

Overweg has over 30 years experience in acoustical consulting, mechanical engineering and project management. In addition to his LEED AP certification, he is a California-registered professional engineer in mechanical engineering, INCE Board certified in noise control engineering, and an Orange County-certified acoustical consultant. Overweg is a member of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE), and American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

The LEED Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.
