Dudek to Provide Environmental Evaluation of Santa Margarita Water District's Proposed Reservoir

Irvine, Calif. – October 2, 2007 – Dudek today announced it was awarded a contract by Santa Margarita Water District to provide the environmental reports required under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) for the construction of a 15.4 acre earthfill dam and reservoir. Located in Chiquita Canyon north of Oso Parkway, the proposed Upper Chiquita Reservoir will provide 720 acre-feet of emergency domestic water storage for several southern Orange County water districts.

“Santa Margarita Water District is proactively addressing the region’s long-term water needs by embarking on this project,” said John Porteous, a Dudek senior project manager. “Dudek will assist the agency in providing environmental compliance support for this important reservoir that will ultimately supply the community with a substantial backup water supply.”

Santa Margarita Water District is the second-largest water district in Orange County, providing water and wastewater treatment services to residents and businesses in Mission Viejo, Ranch Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza, Las Flores, Ladera Ranch and Talega.
