Dudek Enhances Oak Woodlands and Wildfire Prevention Qualifications

With New License, Firm has one of California’s most Comprehensive Urban and Community Forestry Teams

Encinitas, Calif. – March 13, 2007 – Dudek’s Scott Eckardt earned a highly-coveted California Registered Professional Forester license. This certification complements the firm’s extensive urban forestry qualifications, offering clients another resource for addressing oak woodlands projects such as preparing large-scale oak woodland inventories and management plans as well as wildfire prevention plans.

With this certification, Dudek now has one of California’s most comprehensive urban forestry staffs with qualifications including:
  • Registered Professional Foresters
  • Licensed landscape architects
  • Consulting arborists (American Society of Consulting Arborists)
  • Certified foresters (Society of American Foresters)
  • Certified urban foresters (California Urban Forest Council)
  • Certified arborists (International Society of Arboriculture)

California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) documents and technical studies aimed at long-term oak woodland planning and management projects often include oak woodland mapping, woodland resource evaluation and characterization, and impact mitigation plan development. According to the California Board of Forestry, oak woodland projects requiring CEQA documentation can benefit from a Registered Professional Forester.

“Whether your project is preparing a large-scale oak woodland inventory and management plan or an individual tree protection plan, you may face complex issues,” said Eckardt. “Dudek’s urban forestry team with direct oak woodland experience can help navigate through these CEQA documentation hurdles.”

Dudek’s urban forestry group helps California municipalities, regional public agencies, and major land owners assess, design, recreate and manage oak woodlands, urban forests, and the interfaces between urban and native open spaces as well as prepare and implement wildfire prevention plans.
