Dudek Adds Key Environmental Sciences Staff

New Additions Offer Municipalities and Major Landowners Enhanced CEQA/NEPA and Urban Forestry Resources
 
Encinitas, Calif. – September 26, 2006 – Dudek, a leading Southern California engineering and environmental consulting firm, has added key environmental sciences staff to its California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)/National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and urban forestry groups. Carey Fernandes, AICP, joined the firm’s CEQA/NEPA practice as senior project manager. The urban forestry group added Guy Stivers as landscape architect/urban forester, Gerhard Bombe as landscape architect/certified arborist and Tyler Stevenson as urban forester/certified arborist.

Fernandes joins Dudek with over 10 years of project management, environmental planning and documentation preparation experience. She previously served as a branch manager at a private practice environmental firm where she led project teams for a variety of public and private clients. Fernandes is treasurer of the American Planning Association’s San Diego Chapter as well as a member of the Association of Environmental Professionals and the American Institute of Certified Planners.

Stivers has nearly 30 years experience in landscape architecture, environmental planning and urban forestry. He will drive Dudek’s urban forestry group’s native tree mitigation design planning, community forestry and native landscaping practices. Prior to joining Dudek, Stivers owned a landscape architecture firm that provided retrofitting, habitat restoration and erosion control services to a variety of public and private clients. He is a registered landscape architect, certified urban forester, certified arborist and licensed landscape contractor.

Bombe, a licensed landscape architect and certified arborist, brings extensive local, state and federal regulatory experience to Dudek. Serving the County of Orange for nearly 28 years, he most recently led habitat restoration, implementation and monitoring program for coastal sage scrub, woodlands, and grasslands habitats. Bombe is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, California Native Grass Association, California Native Plant Society, California Exotic Pest Plant Council, and Society of Ecological Restoration California Chapter.

Stevenson, a certified arborist, will assist with native tree inventories and assessments, municipal tree inventories, and forest management planning, Prior to joining Dudek, he consulted with various public agencies and utility companies throughout the U.S., assessing tree hazards as well as monitoring erosion, sedimentation and water quality.

Dudek’s CEQA/NEPA services are available from its San Diego, Irvine, Palm Desert and Santa Barbara offices. The firm’s urban forestry services are available throughout California.
